About

The Pearly Oyster Bar welcomes you! Supplying Clyde River oysters and seafood since 1973.

Maria and Christos Paschalidis had been oyster farmers in Batemans Bay since the late 1960's. They began selling oysters from their shed in North Street, Batemans Bay in 1973. In 1976, they established The Pearly Oyster Bar. Their son Stefan worked along-side his parents, and now runs the business with his wife Kathy. Their son Chris also works with his parents, continuing the family business.

The Pearly Oyster Bar harvest the pristine waters of the Clyde River for the finest oysters, taking pride in continued quality of product and service.

There are three different species of oysters that are grown in the Clyde River. The Sydney Rock oyster is probably the most commonly known oyster, and has become the most sought after. The Pearly Oyster Bar has been growing this species since the late 1960's. The Sydney Rock oyster has a deep, rich, sweet flavour leaving a uniquely lasting taste.

The Ostrea Angasi has been growing here since 1990. This was one of the first seafoods farmed by the Aboriginal people around 6000 years ago. This full-flavoured oyster is very rich and meaty, and sought after by many chefs. It is often known as a 'flat' oyster.

The Pacific oyster has been growing in the Clyde River since 2012. Characterised by its fresh, clean and salty flavour. Our Pacific Oysters are sterile. Meaning they do not spawn. They can become very large in size, and are sought after by Asian chefs to use in cooking.
